BOE expanding portfolios for IoT, medical applications

Having become the world’s largest TV panel supplier both in terms of unit and area shipments recently, BOE Technology has also enriched its portfolios for a wide range of smart IoT and medical applications, according to industry sources.

BOE shipped 14.62 million units of LCD TV panels, or equivalent to 7.4 million square meters in area shipments, in the first quarter of 2019, making it the world’s largest TV panel vendor, according to Sigmaintell Consulting.

Operating at full production capacity of 120,000 substrates a month at its 10.5G line in Hefei in the first quarter, BOE’s shipments of 60-inch and above sizes of TV panels also accounted for 29% the global shipments to the segment, according to IHS Markit.

In addition to serving as the top TV panel vendor, BOE has also led all other rival makers in panel shipments for smartphone, tablet, notebook and monitor applications in the first quarter, added the sources.

Despite its leaderships in the aforementioned five major application segments, BOE has claimed that it has expanded its business scope to include products and solutions for IoT and medical applications.

In respect to the smart IoT solutions, BOE has been rolling out innovative products and solutions for a number of markets, including FinTech, transportation, retail, education and art management.

BOE has also set up a digital-focused general purpose Hefei BOE Hospital that boasts advanced medical resources. BOE has also launched mobile health solutions and other healthcare products such as smart sleeping instruments and body fat meters for the smart medical market.
